Perfect eyebrow shape
Eyebrow shapes really, really matter. Well-designed eyebrows can lift your face instantly; poorly-
designed eyebrows, on the other hand, can overshadow and drag down your overall image. That’s
why it is so important to properly map out and design your eyebrows to best complement your facial features and flatter your face shape.
Take a quick look down history lane, and you’ll be able to quickly notice that eyebrows are extremely trendy. The fashionistas of the 1920s drew super skinny brows. In the 1950s, everyone wanted to look like a movie star, going for very defined brows. Remember the 2000s, when everybody for some reason overplucked their brows until they were barely there?
Sure, trends are great, and being able to keep up with the trend is cool. However, not every trendy
style will look good on everyone, so it’s important that you tailor the trend to fit your face shape.
The problem is that finding the right brow shape for you can always be a tricky thing to do. To help
you get started, we asked Vanessa Lee, brow expert and permanent makeup artist at Browever, a
brand known for intrically utilizing state-of-the-art K-beauty techniques to create extremely natural eyebrow looks.
Here, Vanessa reveals her best tips for finding the perfect eyebrow shape for you…
“The first mistake that a lot of people make when shaping their brows is missing where their brows
should start, arch, and end,” says Vanessa.
“I often suggest trying brow mapping at home. There are a lot of instructional content online that can help you try it out on your own using a brow pencil,” Vanessa suggested.
She added: “you may not immediately discover the best shape for you, but in the process you can
really understand where your need to remove excess hair, where your brows need a bit more growth, and where you need to fill in through permanent makeup like microblading.”
How to Map Your Brows
1. Place the pencil vertically on the side of your nose and hold it so that it points towards the inner corner of your eye, but not over the eye area. The beginning of your eyebrow, and therefore your starting point, should be right where the pencil edge meets the brow line.
2. Next, hold the pencil vertically on the side of your nose straight up over the eye. Your arch should be right where the pencil meets the brow bone.
3. Finally, place the pencil vertically on the edge of your nose and align it with the outer corner of your eye. That’s where the end of your brow should be.
